A small collection of photographs of Fort Bowie and its troops, in the 1880s, but there are also images of adobe ruins taken from 1926 to 1972. There are landscape views of the fort's layout and a few interior images of a residence. There are two photographs of Apache scouts; group photos of military officers including Col. Eugene B. Beaumont, Brig. Gen. Nelson Miles, Capt. H.W. Lawton, Dr. Leonard Wood, and Major Thomas McGregor; several pictures of Beaumont's son-in-law, Gen. George A. Forsyth; and one photograph of Geronimo and Naiche. There are several images of troop formations of the 4th Cavalry. Also images documenting the deteriorating ruins of the fort, from the 1920s to 1970.

Army officer; Major Thomas McGregor served in the Indian Wars in Arizona, New Mexico, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and South Dakota. He was commanding officer at Fort Whipple in 1870; returned as commanding officer of Fort Bowie from 1890 to 1893, then was briefly assigned as commanding officer to Fort Grant from 1898 to 1900.
